T BAILEY LLC provides custom vertical storage tank fabrication and aboveground storage tank solutions for demanding industrial environments from our Anacortes, Washington, facility. From API 650 tanks to shop-built vertical steel tanks, we engineer, fabricate, coat, test, and deliver custom steel tanks for oil, fuel, chemical, water, and bulk liquid storage applications. Every phase is managed in-house under a single quality program.
Our vertical tank fabrication capabilities serve federal government contractors, oil refineries, cogeneration facilities, municipal water systems, and private developers across the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and Hawaii. Whether the scope calls for a shop-built vertical storage tank delivered to the job site or a field-erected vertical above-ground storage tank assembled by our crews, T BAILEY LLC delivers a fully integrated solution from initial design through final installation.
What Is a Vertical Storage Tank
A vertical storage tank is an upright cylindrical steel vessel designed for the aboveground storage of liquids and bulk materials. Vertical tanks typically feature a flat bottom, a cylindrical shell, and a cone or dome roof. Commonly used as aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) in industrial facilities, vertical configurations maximize storage capacity within a limited ground footprint. That makes them one of the most practical options where high-volume liquid storage and efficient land use are priorities.
Shop-fabricated vertical steel tanks are generally built at capacities up to approximately 50,000 gallons. That corresponds to roughly a 12-foot diameter, the maximum width that can be transported on a standard highway trailer. Larger vertical storage tanks are field-erected, with components fabricated in-house and shipped to the project site for assembly. National standards governing shop-fabricated aboveground tank construction include UL 142, API 650, and API 12F, among others, depending on the stored product and operating conditions.
Vertical Tank Storage Applications
T BAILEY LLC fabricates vertical storage tanks for a broad range of industrial storage categories. Each application requires specific material selection, coatings, and code compliance.
Petroleum and fuel storage is one of the most common applications for vertical tanks. Vertical oil storage tanks hold crude and refined petroleum products at production facilities, refineries, pipelines, and distribution terminals. Vertical fuel storage tanks and vertical diesel storage tanks serve fuel depots, cogeneration plants, and transportation infrastructure where reliable aboveground storage is required.
Vertical chemical storage tanks hold industrial chemicals, agrochemicals, and process chemicals used in manufacturing, water treatment, and food production. Material selection for a vertical chemical storage tank depends on the chemical properties of the stored substance. Stainless steel is specified where corrosion resistance is critical.
Water storage applications include potable water, process water, fire suppression reservoirs, and irrigation systems. Vertical liquid storage tanks for water service are commonly fabricated in carbon steel with interior linings selected to meet the requirements of the stored product and local health codes.
Vertical bulk storage tanks also serve dry bulk and specialty applications across industrial, agricultural, and government sectors. This application-specific approach ensures every T BAILEY LLC vertical tank is engineered for long-term performance, operational safety, and compliance with the codes and standards governing that specific service.
Our Vertical Tank Fabrication Process
Vertical tank fabrication at T BAILEY LLC follows a controlled, multi-phase workflow. After the client provides project specifications, our team completes engineering and detailing, then submits drawings for client approval before fabrication begins.
Once approved, we procure raw materials (typically carbon or stainless steel) and begin material preparation through CNC plasma cutting and plate rolling. The steel plate then moves to our surface preparation facility, where our Wheelabrator system processes both sides simultaneously to achieve a uniform blast profile. Components proceed directly into our dual 30-foot by 110-foot heated paint and blast booths for priming and coating, all without leaving our campus. Tank accessories, including nozzles, vents, stairways, ladders, and platforms, undergo the same in-house surface preparation and coating process through our industrial coatings services facility.
For shop-built vertical storage tanks, final assembly, testing, and finish coatings are completed at our facility before delivery. For larger vertical tanks that exceed highway transport dimensions, we fabricate and prep all components in-house, then ship them to the project site for field erection by our experienced crews. By managing fabrication, coatings, inspection, and logistics under one roof, T BAILEY LLC reduces transportation delays and third-party coordination risks through our integrated steel fabrication services.
Why T BAILEY LLC for Vertical Tank Fabrication
T BAILEY LLC is more than a vertical tank fabricator. We are a fully integrated industrial partner with in-house capabilities that eliminate the coordination risk, schedule delays, and quality gaps that come with multi-vendor projects.
- Single-Source Project Delivery: Fabrication, surface preparation, coatings, testing, and field erection all operate under one quality program and one project team through our steel construction capabilities. There is no need to coordinate between multiple vendors or subcontractors.
- Large-Scale Facility and Equipment: Our Anacortes facility offers over 120,000 square feet of production space with plate-bending rolls capable of handling 2.75-inch-thick by 10-foot-wide steel plate. Overhead bridge cranes are rated at 20 tons, forklifts at up to 55 tons, and RT hydraulic cranes at a 60-ton capacity.
- Shipping and Logistics Advantage: Our location near the Port of Anacortes, interstate transportation routes, and regional rail infrastructure allows T BAILEY LLC to coordinate efficient delivery of oversized tank components throughout the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Hawaii, and coastal project locations.
- Full Lifecycle Support: T BAILEY LLC provides in-house industrial coatings, metallizing, insulation coordination, and long-term tank maintenance support. That gives clients a single source for the complete aboveground storage tank lifecycle from fabrication through ongoing service.
