Steel Plate Processing

If you are outside an area in which T BAILEY is unable to field erect such as Canada, we can supply steel plate for your field erection needs. T BAILEY is able to cut the raw steel plates, bevel the edges, roll them to the specified diameter and apply a prime coating to the plate.

T BAILEY’s steel plates can be used to make a wide variety of products including field erected tanks and pipes that are welded onsite. They have great longevity and provide reliably strong support to any structure.

T BAILEY has extensive experience with steel plate processing projects and our facilities are fully equipped to take a project from start to finish. We understand the needs of different industries, and have been a trustworthy partner over the past three decades.

The Steel Plate Metal Process

Raw plates are received by T BAILEY from the mill to be worked into the required shape and structure. Regardless of the end product, the steel plate fabrication process follows the same general steps.

Preparation

Once the raw steel plate is received T BAILEY will ensure the quality of plate received is to specification of order and free from defects. If requested, each steel plate is then stamped for identification markers to ensure end-to-end traceability. Generally, the raw steel is ready to work with and the required preparation is limited.

Cutting

After all the steel plates are prepared, they will be cut to size ensuring it is square. Depending on the design and dimensions of the final product, it may be possible to bevel at this stage which will increase efficiency.

T BAILEY has a new state-of-the-art plasma burn table. This burn table gives an increased level of control and consistency over the beveled parts. In addition, it can occasionally combine cutting and beveling into one step, increasing efficiency. Steel plates up to 10’ by 50’ can be beveled on the burn table while simultaneously cutting it out; if a part is too small or complex, our team of professionals can precisely bevel by hand.

Beveling

If the product plan does not allow for cutting and beveling to occur simultaneously, then the steel plates will be beveled after being cut. Beveling prepares the edges of the steel plates for welding.

Rolling

After the steel plates have been cut and beveled, they will be rolled if necessary. The tightness of the roll will be dependent upon the diameter and length of the tank that will be welded on the construction site.

Coating

Depending on the project, the steel plates may need a protective coating added after they have been welded together. T BAILEY. has an in-house facility with an experienced and well-trained team able to apply required coatings. Uses of Heavy Steel Plate

Heavy steel plates are a very common material in construction, manufacturing, and building. Therefore, the uses are nearly endless. If you have a specific project in mind, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We can work together to draw up a fabrication plan.

Structure Applications

One of the most common needs for T BAILEY to supply steel plate occurs when you have a construction project outside of T BAILEY’s geographic construction range such as in Canada or if you have a contractor onsite who is able to perform the field welding. Steel plate is commonly used in above ground field tanks, foundation pilings, piping, and piers are common examples.

Heavy Steel Plate Fabrication

T BAILEY has been providing the Pacific Northwest and Canada with excellent steel plate fabrication services for many years. Our team of professionals are available throughout the entire process. We can promise clear communication, reliable timelines, and high quality, always. If you have any questions or would like a quote, contact us today!
