    2. Application examples are petroleum products and chemicals.
    3. Shop fabricated, aboveground, non-mobile, steel storage tanks.
    4. Single wall, double wall or diked, and can be compartmentalized.
    5. Orientation can be vertical or horizontal, and shape can be cylindrical, rectangular, or round.
    6. The maximum allowable working pressure is 0.5 PSIG as measured from the top of the tank.
  2. API 620 tanks:
    1. For liquid products with high internal pressure (up to 15 PSI) or low temperature.
    2. Application examples are liquified natural gas and cryogenic products.
    3. Aboveground, vertical tanks are usually larger than 300 feet in diameter and are field-erected due to their size.
  3. API 650 tanks: Low-Pressure Liquid Storage Tanks
    1. For liquid products that have lower pressure, but a higher temperature (up to 200oF).
    2. Application examples are oil, gas, chemicals, water, and biofuel.
    3. The most common tanks in the oil industry are usually found in fuel refineries, pipelines, terminals, and process facilities.
  4. Condensate Tanks:
    1. Designed to trap and retain condensate from fossil fuel processing systems.
    2. They can accommodate the liquid stream process and any potentially corrosive substances in the flow.
    3. Application examples are intermediate natural gas liquids, condensate, and liquid waste products from fuel production, before stabilization processing systems.
  5. Hoppers: Fuel Storage Tanks
    1. Vertical, low profile, large capacity, double wall tanks for all types of fuel, hazardous chemicals, and petroleum products.
    2. Application examples are fuel, diesel, kerosene, gasoline, and solvents.
    3. For aboveground storage with a minimum of 110% secondary containment.
  6. Cone Bottom Tanks:
    1. Ideal for substances that need to be fully drained or are prone to sludging.
    2. Application examples are biodiesel and distillates.
    3. Cone bottom tanks can be used indoors or outdoors, but require stands for support.
    4. The cone slope angle can vary from shallow for liquids, to steep for heavy sludges.
  7. ASME Pressure Vessels:
    1. Section VIII Division 1 tank can be used to safely store liquids, vapors, and gasses at pressures significantly higher than ambient pressure.
    2. They are essential in the petrochemical and refining industry.
    3. Application examples include compressed natural gas and liquid nitrogen.
    4. They are designed to operate at pressures greater than 15 PSIG.
    5. They can be fired or unfired.
  8. Low-pressure Tanks:
    1. Low-pressure tanks that are too volatile for atmospheric storage.
    2. Application examples are gasoline and refrigerated storage.
    3. They are designed per AP 620 codes to withstand internal pressures ranging from 0.5–15 PSIG.
  9. Fireguard® UL2085 Double Wall Tanks:
    1. For safe, aboveground storage of highly flammable and combustible hydrocarbon fuels and chemicals.
    2. Application examples are avgas and jet fuel.
    3. Fire-protected, aboveground, double wall tanks.
    4. Highly efficient insulation in the interstice protects the inner tank.
    5. Compliant with fire codes and carry a 30-year limited warranty.
  10. F921® Double Wall Tanks:
    1. For safe, aboveground storage of flammable and combustible hydrocarbon fuels and chemicals.
    2. Application examples include gasoline, diesel fuels, antifreeze, oils, lubricants, biodiesel, chemicals, and more.
    3. Include integrated, testable interstice monitoring for leak detection.
    4. Impermeable secondary containment meets EPA SPCC requirements.

Bulk Tank Sizes

We can fabricate tanks in any size capacity of up to 30 million gallons. Depending on shipping constraints, all tanks up to 20’ wide and 20’ tall may be built in our state-of-the-art facility. For larger tanks, we fabricate pieces or subassemblies in our shop and put them together on-site during the installation process.

High-Quality Materials

T BAILEY, INC.’s heavy manufacturing processes mainly use the highest quality carbon steel plate, or stainless steel where required. Our precision welding and specialized coatings allow us to produce steel tanks of excellent durability that can withstand extreme conditions.

Tank Head Assembly and Geometry

We offer welded or bolted end closures. The 3 most commonly used tank heads are:

  1. Elliptical or semi-elliptical. These are used on unfired pressure vessels, such as liquefied petroleum gas and air receivers.
  2. Hemispherical. These are used on large-circumference tanks or high-pressure applications to reduce material and weight.
  3. Flat. These are used in storage or holding tanks with no pressure. They are also a good option when you need a lower head height installation.

Other options include ASME flanged and dished, conical, and torispherical tank heads.

Tank/Vessel Codes and Standards

T BAILEY, INC. can fabricate tanks that adhere to the stringent requirements of the following codes and standards:

  • ASME Section VIII – Div 1
  • API 650
  • API 620
  • API 653

Our Bulk Storage Tank Fabrication Process

Step #1: After receiving the raw steel plate, we check every piece for quality and integrity.

Step #2: The steel is cut, beveled, and rolled into pieces that fit together to produce the correct diameter and height.

Step #3: The sections are welded together, either in our fabrication facility, or field erected on the job site if the tank is larger than 20’x20’

Step #4: For thick steel walls, heat treatment and stress relieving ensure integrity.

Step #5: Finally, the tank is blasted, primed, and coated to produce the final product.
